EL Endorsements You Don't Want To Miss

Last Friday, we brought you the week’s winners and losers. But this week, we’ve had so many phenomenal developments; we couldn’t wait a full week to get you the inside scoop.

Over the past week, EMILY’s List candidates have been receiving major national and local endorsements. Here’s the run-down:

The League of Conservation Voters Action Fund endorsed Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday, saying “New Mexico families have trusted Michelle to put in place environmental safeguards to protect public health and our natural resources for more than twenty years. It’s time we had her leadership in Congress.”  LCV is spot on – way to go Michelle!

According to The Spokesman-Review editorial board, as the “go-to senator on such issues as technology, clean energy and financial regulation,” Maria Cantwell has “earned a trip to the general election.”

Lois Frankel got an endorsement from the Sun Sentinel over the weekend. They said Lois’ “more varied public service gives her the edge in this race.”  Lois is in great shape heading into her August 14th primary!

Former President Bill Clinton  endorsed Tarryl Clark on Friday for Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District. We couldn’t agree more with the former President when he said "Tarryl's focus for almost 25 years has been improving Minnesota. I am confident she will bring the common sense solutions we need to Washington." Congratulations, Tarryl!

In the race for Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District, The Register Citizen said Elizabeth Esty made their “decision about an endorsement very easy.” Even though they found both of her primary challengers to “share nearly identical positions on matters of policy” with voting records to match, Esty “has stood out in her campaign for understanding the crossroads facing the 5th District and the nation.” The Register Citizen couldn’t have said it any better; way to go Elizabeth!

And finally, let’s give it up for Gloria Romero Roses. The Miami Herald recently endorsed  Roses as “the right contrast to stand against an incumbent who has been in the headlines for investigation of his finances.” Not only is she “smart and engaging, Ms. Roses has well-thought-out policy issues.” But that’s not the only endorsement Gloria received this week. Just this week, EMILY’s List bumped her up from ‘on the list’ to fully ‘recommended.’ From Gloria’s lifelong commitment to serving her family and standing up for her community, we know Gloria will be a strong progressive voice for women and families in Washington.
