This is from an email Senator Jeanne Shaheen sent to the EMILY's List community 11/29/12
Every day, more than 400,000 servicewomen risk their lives in defense of our country and our ideals. For that, they should be honored.
Wow what a year, election season is over and we just want to say, THANK YOU. You made history this year.
We have so much to celebrate. $51.2 million dollars. Nine senators. Eighteen congresswomen. The only pro-choice Democratic woman governor. And the list goes on!
Check out this special video we put together to thank you for your overwhelming support and hard work. Thanks to you, this was truly an historic year. Sit back and enjoy.
The election is over. We know how it all ended up. But what if you could go back in time and be a fly on the wall when it all began? We dug up this video from our archives of EMILY’s List President Stephanie Schriock chatting with a woman who had just announced her candidacy a couple weeks prior: Elizabeth Warren. The now Senator-elect told Stephanie about joining EMILY’s List early on:
Nail-biter. Nerve-wracking. History-making. These are just a few of the terms being used after Tuesday night’s reelection victory of President Barack Obama, and how relatively early the race was called for him when so many observers thought we’d be counting ballots for days. But when it comes to women, it should be called “The Night of Firsts!”
I hope you’re safe, everyone.
It’s been a pretty crazy couple of days on the East Coast and I wanted to pass along what Stephanie said, in case you didn’t see her email from earlier. Take a second and read what she had to say -- and donate to the Red Cross. Our friends need it.
